Sushil Koirala elected for new Prime Minister Nepal's parliament has elected a new Prime Minister. Sushil Koirala, the leader of the Nepali Congress Party, secured the position after a last-minute power-sharing deal on Monday. Koirala is from the Banke district of Nepalgunj, a constituency where many residents feel forgotten by politicians. Residents hope the new prime minister will follow through on his election promises to bring peace and security to the region. Al Jazeera's Subina Shrestha reports from Banke District, Nepal. Sushil Koirala is a Nepalese politician, President of Nepali Congress and the Prime Minister of Nepal. Koirala was elected as the Prime Minister of Nepal by the parliament on 10 February 2014. Koirala joined the party in 1954 and served in various capacities prior to becoming its president in 2010.
